I just installed inssider and see that my network channel(s) is listed as 2 +6

What does this mean?

It means your AP is running in 40Mhz bandwidth mode. This uses 2 channels to achieve the highest speed.

In your case it's using channel 2 as the 'control' and 6 as the 'extension' channel.
