Thread: RSSI Query

    Default RSSI Query

I have just bought a Netgear DGN2200 and set it to channel 11 as other people nearby were using channel 7.
When I installed inSSIDer 2 I see that my router is showing channel 11 +7. Could anyone please tell me if there is something I need to change.
Also, my RSSI sis showing a level of -36 whilst all other the connections on the screen are around -85. Is lower better ?
I connect wirelessly to my router with a Netgear WNA3100.
    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks

Since RSSI is measured in negative numbers, the -36 is higher than the -85.
The 11 + 7 means the access point is operating in 40MHz 802.11n mode with the primary channel being 11 and the secondary channel being 7. Seeing how all the other networks are around -85, they should not interfere with your access point.
