Thread: Lat/Lon Question

    Default Lat/Lon Question

I am showing multiple networks but all of the Lat / Lon that show up point to my home location? Why? Is it because it is picking up these networks on my local wireless network? Is there a way to determine what the lat/lon of these other networks are?

The Lat and Lon values are the location at which inSSIDer received the strongest signal from an access point. The only way to determine where the access points are is to walk around and find the strongest signals, so inSSIDer will make note of where it was when it picked up that strong signals.
One way of doing that is to start GPX logging, and then to walk around. Afterwards, convert the GPX log into a KML file that you can open in Google Earth. This will show you, on a map, where the strongest signals were found.
