Hey guys, Stephen here at MetaGeek. I receive quite a bit of support email asking the question "Is it true that I can record both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands at the same time?"

The answer to this question is... YES you can (though you can't view them simultaneously).

So yes, it is true that you could use two DBx's to record both bands. If you want a cheaper option, a DBx and 2.4x work as well.

Anyhow, here are steps to accomplish this:

  • Chanalyzer Pro:

    1. Plug in both DBx's (Or DBx and 2.4x)
    2. Run Chanalyzer Pro
    3. Click "Sessions" and take note of which session is in place (2.4ghz or 5ghz marked by a red circle)
      • If both sessions are listed, then you are done and recording in both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
    4. Click Config at the top of the screen
      • If 2.4ghz was already in session click "Full 5 GHz Band".
      • If 5ghz was already in session click "Full 2.4 GHz Band"

*NOTE* In "Sessions" you can click between the sessions in recording to view either session without disrupting the other session.

  • Chanalyzer 4

  1. Plug in both DBx's (Or DBx and 2.4x)
  2. Run Chanalyzer 4
  3. In the lower left hand corner you should see "Device Selector"
  4. Click the menu
  5. Ensure that both bands are listed
  6. If not follow step 4 from the Chanalyzer Pro instructions

*NOTE* You can click the different options in the "Device Selector" menu to navigate between recordings without disrupting the other sessions.
Hope this helps some of you guys out!
