Default Upgraded to Chanalyzer V5.0 - Density View Not Showing Any Colour Other than Blue

We've just upgraded from Chanalyzer 1.2.x to v5.0.x. Using the same laptop and WiSpy Dbx the density views are remarkably different on v5.0.

We no longer see red, green, yellow, only blue, indicating low airtime use, however v1.2x still shows as before (see images)

    Is this a bug?

    Thanks
    Jon

In the screenshot of Chanalyzer Pro, you have "Color by Amplitude" selected. With that view, the color changes based on how loud signals are. Notice that the higher signals go, the more they fade to red, matching the waterfall view.

In the screenshot of Chanalyzer 5, "Color by Utilization" is selected. Instead of coloring by amplitude, it colors by how often signals occur, or how often they are "utilized." It's similar to duty cycle or airtime (although not exactly the same, that's another thread).

A blue spike indicates a short signal, like a clap (10 percent utilization or less), and a red spike indicates a constant signal, like an air horn (50 percent utilization or more). Color by Utilization is so much more useful for Wi-Fi troubleshooting, that it is no the only view we include. We found that the other views (like Color by Amplitude) just confused people in the end.

In your environment, the blue indicates that most of the environment is only being used about 10 percent of the time. Centered on channel 6 is the curve shape of an 802.11b network. There's a bit of green, so it's hitting 15 or 20 percent utilization in most places.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
