    Default 2.4Ghz - 4 x Signatures Channels 2, 4, 8ish and 13-14

    Hi all

The attached capture from a suburban school shows a Wi-Spy/Chanalyzer capture of 2.4Ghz-2.5Ghz with all on-site APs turned off. We can see what are likely neighboring APs on channel 1, but we're intrigued what these 4 other signatures are likely to be? Performance tests on this band were pretty poor, so they're definitely having a major effect on our APs which use channels 1,6 and 11.

The signature resembles that of either motion sensors or cordless phones? We noted a large number of hardwired smoke alarms on-site of several different types, but we weren't able to power down the site to assess if these are on-site or not. Their strength at approx -55db perhaps indicates they're offsite? The nearest building are approx 50-100m away.

    Many thanks

Do you have a capture file you can post?

Sorry, we didn't record a capture file. What additional information might this provide that could help? Any ideas on the type of device we might be looking for?

A capture file can be replayed to view signal behavior over a period of time.
-55 dBm is quite strong which suggests a signal source within your building.
