Thread: Wireless Audio & Soundolier

    Default Wireless Audio & Soundolier

I am a first time user of Wi-Spy and Chanalyzer and so far it has been very helpful to our school. I have attached a spectrum analysis that I believe contains interference from wireless audio devices and a soundolier. I am just looking for confirmation that I am headed in the right direction with this.

    Thanks

Thanks for posting! In this recording, I'm seeing three 802.11b signatures on channels 1, 6, and 11. All of your access points are on channels 1, 6, and 11, and it looks like they have legacy data rates (like 1, 2, 5.5, and 11 mbps) enabled, so the management overhead is being transmitted at 1 mbps.

1 mbps makes that "curve" shape that we're seeing in the spectrum.

Your channel utilization isn't through the roof, but it is getting to be a bit higher than I like at 30-60 percent, depending on the channel. Disabling legacy rates would improve that issue a bit, but your cell sizes would become slightly smaller. You can find more information about that here.
