Thread: Wireless N Connection Constantly Drops To 5.5 Mbps

  1. #11

5.5Mbps is 802.11b which should not happen if you lock the linksys to 802.11n only.

The lowest 11n will go is 6.5Mbps

I would try setting the wireless mode to mixed to see if that helps.
One more thing to try is enabling wmm under qos settings.

Finally, use 20MHz channels in the 2,4GHz band. mcdvoice survey
Using 40MHz can cause problems, even if your area isnt very crowded with other wifi networks.

I was able to fix my problem almost one year ago in early June 2018 by buying a new dual-band router as well as getting a USB wi-fi adapter for my desktop computer that was compatible with 5 GHz. My original plan was to run Ethernet cable, and I do still plan to, but things have been so good and stable that it has not been a priority.

I see now that I never replied to update with the fix and I do apologize for that!
